What is also specific to today's world and how it is different to planning special operations today to those 50 and more years ago.

I would make the assumption that you are basically acting in the environment where the opponent knows your plans and the only advantage that you can have is to act quicker on some decisions, be stronger at some points and gain advantage only with that rather than surprise the enemy.

Element of surprise is still very useful and how to try to achieve that. It should be carefully planned and it should pass from one to others and so several times with involving less people and eventually only having those involved aware of the plans.

If there are things that are being prepared or done already, it should not be counted to much that it would work, however operations currently done or planned should be done in this way. It's still not guaranteed but trying to lose the trace is the major factor hear if the success is expected to achieve.

    Which Ones Do You Know? I somehow lost the interest to continue with some conclusion of tactics and strategies and arms used and supplied by the greatest armies of this world. I started to think what I know from what I could use if needed. When I ask myself a question "which ones do you know", I am talking about the assault rifles. Today, as probably now for more than a century, soldier who is not equipped with a rifle is not a soldier, unless you use a tank, pilot a plan or use other equipment that is used to do some damage to the enemy. It's a bit surprise to me, what a wide choice of different assault rifles exist. Every bigger and quite many medium size and smaller countries have their own models of assault rifles . Which is your favorite and how well do you master it? For me who has not served in any army, I have quite limited knowledge and using practice of any of the assault rifles.
